Frequently Asked Questions

These are a few of the more common questions we get asked by prospective clients considering using our services...

Q: How easy is it to change accountants and why should I change? A: Often, there is no reason to change your accountant as they are offering you an excellent service at a good cost - stick with them. However, there are many reasons why you would like to change; service levels, price, location, personal recommendation etc. Changing accountant is very straight forward. Upon receiving your instruction, we will handle everything which usually just involves one letter from us to your previous accountant.

Q: Are your fees competitive? A: Yes. There is a perception that accountants are an expensive commodity. We have modest overheads and continually challenge these to ensure our fees remain very competitive in the market place (We're not always the cheapest, however cheapest can often be the most expensive in the long run). Most importantly, we provide a service which is excellent value for money.

Q: What can I do to reduce my accountancy fee? A: We will give you guidance and the tools you need for every day accounting activities which will ultimately reduce the time we need to take and can save you money.

Q: Do you offer a free 'no obligation' consultation? A: Yes. This helps us to understand your requirements and offer a service which matches your needs. You are welcome to visit our office or we can visit you at your premises or home.

Q: Can you contact HMRC on my behalf? A: Yes. Upon receiving your instruction, we will supply you with the form to sign which will give us authority to discuss your tax affairs directly with HMRC.

Q: How soon can we meet? A: Let us know what suits you best. We can usually arrange a meeting a short notice and at a convenient time for you.

Q: Do you provide a quote in advance of completing the work? A: We will review your accountancy requirements and supply you with a quote for the work we are undertaking. This will be a fixed fee when the exact nature of the work is known. The fee we quote is what we consider to be fair and reasonable for the work.

Q: Can you recommend suitable accounting software for my business? A: Yes. Every business will have different needs. We can advise on the best option for you, help you to implement the system and give professional training as required.

Q: You offer a service which is far more than some other accountants. How are you able to do this? A: From our experience, a business which takes its accountancy function seriously and resources it well is more likely to succeed and grow. We are able to use our accountants' comprehensive 'hands on' experience in many industry types to understand the in-depth workings of your business. We feel accountancy should be more than annual accounts and tax returns, and therefore put experience to good use and offer a full range of services.
